Our History

Long Meadow Farms is home to Texas tradition, with a storied past that reaches back to the foundation of Texas. Jane Long, known by many as “The Mother of Texas,” was the proud recipient of a league of land title that was presented to her by none other than Stephen F. Austin back in 1824. Located in Fort Bend County, this land proved to be the perfect site for a plantation, where Ms. Long would raise cattle and grow cotton after relocating there in 1837. Her descendants purchased nearby plots and expanded the Long land, some of which is now beautiful Long Meadow Farms.
